What is Frankincense oil?
Frankincense essential oil is steam distilled from resin of the frankincense tree. Our frankincense is actually a blend for 4 different species of frankincense: Boswellia carterii, sacra, papyrifera, and frereana. This combination ensures the highest therapeutic benefit across the entire body affecting multiple body systems. Frankincense promotes feelings of peace, relaxation, and overall wellness and can be used safely in all species. Frankincense is high in α-pinene, limonene, α-thujene.
Benefits of frankincense oil:
As the king of oils, Frankincense is known to promote cellular health and immunity and can be consumed daily for these internal benefits. It promotes cellular health and DNA integrity for any lumps or bumps that your animal may have. Frankincense supports healthy function of the nervous system, immune system, and digestive tract. It helps soothe skin that is irritated, itchy or damaged, particularly when used in conjunction with lavender. It also relaxes and soothes sore muscles and joints in older animals.
Frankincense is emotionally used to help relieve false truths and is quite helpful in rescue situations, particularly when an animal is un-trusting of men or if they have been “tricked” too many times. This oil is excellent to use in transitions such as adopting a new animal or if you are trying to build a stronger bond with your animal. It helps with feelings of abandonment and feeling unconnected. Frankincense promotes feelings of peace and trust.
How to use frankincense oil with animals:
Frankincense oil can be diffused, applied topically or given internally.
For horses and cattle, apply 4-6 drops along the spine from tail to head, topically directly over the area of concern, or you can give 2 drops twice daily with feed to give internally. This is helpful over the poll of these animals as well.
For dogs, dilute 1 drop in 20-50 drops of carrier oil and give one diluted drop internally mixed with food, or apply topically along the spine or directly over the area of concern or between the paw pads of the back feet.
For cats, water diffusion is preferred, if applied topically dilute 1 drop per 100 drops of carrier oil prior to applying to the area of concern or by petting along the spine.
Frankincense is safe to diffuse around reptiles and small mammals as well.
