Udder Balm

Got Milk? This udder balm recipe is perfect for goats, cows, sheep, and other animals. Bonus: it is a great healing salve for wounds and a moisturizer for hands!

Ingredients:

  • ½ ounce beeswax
  • 1 ounce shea butter
  • 1 ounce coconut oil
  • 3 ounces Calendula infused oil (in a pinch, use plain extra virgin olive oil)
  • 2-4 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 2-4 drops Melaleuca essential oil
  • 2-4 drops Frankincense essential oil
  • Other oils optional: Geranium, Lemongrass, Myrrh
  • Glass or plastic container with large mouth (to scoop out salve)

Directions:

  1. In a double boiler, melt the beeswax over medium-high heat
  2. Add shea butter and coconut oil
  3. Gently stir as it melts
  4. Add Calendula oil, mix and then remove from heat
  5. As it starts to cool, add the essential oils
  6. Store in small glass or plastic container (allow to cool first if using plastic) – for best results store at room temperature
  7. Apply frequently (daily after milking)
